why do people believe this is possible? Apple will not allow one carrier to undersell the other on the SAME DEVICE...just won't happen it's bad for sales...which is why there is no competition between AT&T and Verizon...similar plans on voice text and data...otherwise everyone would play carrier swap every few month to get the best deal...if Tmobile gets the iPhone while still independent from AT&T you better believe you won't get unlimited everything for 70 bucks

Even if Amazon has 69 cent songs, I will likely continue buying on iTunes. Over the past year, most music has been purchased on my iPhone while I am out. Can't do that with Amazon.
Blame The fact that Apple won't allow a competing service in it's market. On my Android phone I can use the Amazon mp3 app to purchase music, download it to my phone immediately or stream it from amazon. It goes into my Amaozon locker meaning I can go to any computer and download it there at any point in the future. Instant access from multiple devices, except my one iOS device.

From a practical standpoint, I know exactly what you're saying. But it doesn't help fix the problem. In the past, MS has implemented restrictive policies that angered enough users that they were forced to back down on them.
EG. A while back, MS took a stance that it was illegal to use an imaged installation of Windows on your PC if you didn't own a "volume license" or separate retail box license for it. If your PC came bundled with a copy of Windows on it and you blew that away in favor of your pre-made disk imaged version, they tried to say you weren't properly licensed anymore if you didn't own that second license.
This caused so many corporations to suddenly be "illegal" on thousands of PCs that it created a firestorm of protest. After that, you never really heard about the issue again. MS even started addressing the "Ghost" imaging software specifically in their tech. notes.
People who just shrug and say "Who cares? I'll just break the EULA and do things my way." just encourage MS to keep on restricting things. If you aren't the "squeaky wheel", you don't get any "oil".
I could care less what the microsoft's EULA agreement says. If I'm able to install it I could care less if it is illegal. As long as it is only on one computer then I'm doing it. And they wonder why people pirate their software...

One of my first thoughts when Verizon got an iPhone out of sync with the normal production order was the the iPhone 5 (or 4S) was going to be unlocked and Verizon wanted to capitalize on a few months of their own form of exclusivity.
I hope this means I'm right.
I'm currently sporting a Nexus One which, since its OTA update to 2.3 is a phone that has all the stability and responsiveness of Windows ME. (I have not found this to be generally true of the Android platform, but the Nexus One hasn't done the platform any favors for me personally.)

Because if you order one now you'll get an email back saying there was an unexpected delay. Inventory is drying up at best buy and amazon. Other threads here on the macrumor forums show that supplies are shrinking all over the world and distributors have no stock.

One must assume the carrier would prefer to sell an iPhone, where they don't have to make up the cost of a "free" Android phone over time. Carriers thus would want to sink more advertising dollars and apply more sales pressure for the more profitable iPhone.
Again, let's get the iPhone on Sprint and T-Mobile and see how it all plays out.
Very true, I am sure Telcos would rather sell you a $199 device AND still lock you into a contract(which is how is happens on high end Android and Iphones.)
Also I think carriers do bogo because they can push THEIR proprietary software that they bloat android devices with and make money that way. As usual American's (yeah I'm American) love to blame someone for their own responsibility. It's so weird how people on here fight for freedom from the lockdowns that Apple puts on it's developers, freedoms from the limitations and restrictions Apple puts on the iPhone (hence why people jailbreak). Yet when a parent doesn't take accountability for their absence of judgement and legal obligation to be responsible for their child, everyone goes off on Apple for not having the protections in place to prevent this?
There are so many hypocrites in this country, probably because nobody wants to take accountability for their own actions. What if it were a gun. If the parent left it on the night stand with a bullet in it, and the kid picked it up and shot & killed someone, would you all be blaming the maker of the gun? No, you'd be going after the parents for failure to supervise their kid which led to actions causing someone's death.
So why is it different here?

Wake me when iMacs have matte screens again.
I'm surprised a third-party vendor hasn't started producing matte screens for the iMac. The glass is simple to remove on the iMac.
