Maybe a sign of universal iOS+Mac apps?
It wouldn't be too difficult for Apple to provide something like Rosetta for iDevice apps. It sounds extremely un-apple though. The only reason Apple provided Rosetta was to ease the PowerPC-Intel transition. I don't think there is any real benefit here because many iDevice apps would not translate well to a mouse and keyboard. It's possible that new iOS apps would have a "mac mode" that would solve this, so who knows.

Again, when Apple says "delayed" I'll accept it as delayed. Until they do, they said "ships this summer", I'll stick to believing it "ships this summer". You can try to rationalize it not shipping this summer all you want, the official word still is it's coming this summer.

The "view" buttons in finder changed back to the old style.

Now that Apple have got an entire range of consumer machines ( laptops, desktops etc ) that can compete in terms of performance against their Window-PC counterparts, I'd expect nothing less - and expect the share to continue.
( Really - G4s had their day years ago ).

I tend to agree with you, but that is just business, and Microsoft is good at it. If we want to point fingers, point them at the consumers. The only reason Microsoft still pours money into things is because people will still buy their products. Microsoft also uses their position of having a large amount of disposable cash. If their product sucks, people won't buy it, and Microsoft suffers.
If that were true, Microsoft would never have been able to survive after Windows 95.
If a product sucks but almost everyone else is using it, most people will use it too.

Well Apple has used up all the "big cat" names like Tiger and Lion which means that either OS 11 is underway or they will be in the embarassing situation of having to use lesser cat names which imply "less".

Well, we can only hope that they've been a bit more sufficiently tested. Also, if the enclosure and internals haven't changed much, most of the issues should be out of the way. Yes, EVEREYTHING is a risk. :)

one thing i am very pleased about is that the stock 17" has all the specs i need (i will get more RAM elsewhere, not from apple, and not yet) 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, 2.33 C2D so now i do not have to CTO from apple, i can just go buy it in store.
the only things i wish for more of would be a higher-end video card and easy access HD bay. other than that i am pleased.

Looking at the screenshots my impression is that the Finder is exactly the same as the "old" one. Does this mean that one of the secret feature is a completely new Finder?
